New York Fashion Week: college girl edition
Our Snapchat feed no longer features live snaps from the runway, which can only mean one thing; the renowned 'New York Fashion Week' has come to an end. Another year, another fashion phenomenon.
One thing I really miss about living outside of Texas is living somewhere that has actual seasons. I’m pretty bitter that I won’t be seeing leaves change and having cooler weather. Fall was absolutely beautiful up in St. Louis. However, scraping ice off my car and dealing with anything catastrophic due to snow- that I don’t miss. Unless I’m skiing down it, I’m content without seeing snow for a very long time.
In honor of fall approaching us, I made a collage of my ‘go-to’ fall necessities. Major disclaimer; these are not ‘new and upcoming’ trends, as a matter of fact- these are probably trends from years ago. However, as season(s) and fashion continues to change- these items continue to stay in my closet from year to year. These are my most over-worn/over-used items, and things that I suggest every college girl to get, because you simply don’t outgrow them.
Riding Boots: honestly, these are my go-to foot attire during the fall/winter season. I love riding boots because they are versatile- wear them with leggings and a t-shirt, or with skinny jeans and a nice top. If you don’t have a pair, I highly recommend you buy one. I had the same boots for about three years, and I wore them down to the sole (literally- the sole is falling apart) so, sadly- those boots are coming to a retirement. You want a pair of boots that are comfortable and durable enough to outlive the snow, rain, wind, etc. Riding boots can be pricey, but buy a quality pair and you won't have to buy another one for a few years. Tory Burch: Marlene Riding Boot $495.00
Ballet Flats: I bought these flats up in St. Louis last fall and they are a gem. I wear them to church, work, going out with friends, etc. They are the perfect ‘business casual’ shoes for internships, and the perfect ‘it’s too cold to wear sandals-but too hot to wear boats’ kind of shoes. Tory Burch: Reva Ballet Flats $225.00
Pullover: My Patagonia is probably my most over-worn outerwear in my closet. Just last week, I grabbed by Patagonia before I left for class incase my classroom was cold. This pullover is super convenient, super comfortable, and super easy to wear.
Patagonia: Re-Tool Snap-T Pullover $119.00
Large Travel Bag: I was born and raise in Texas- so this designer filled the hallways of my high school, #FortWorthprobz. But let's be real, you can't outlive Jon Hart's stuff. For those who are constantly on the go, this is the perfect bag. It is super easy to carry through the airport and fits perfectly in your overhead compartment; so no more hauling around a heavy luggage just for a weekend trip! It has plenty of space, and unless you are one of those girls who needs five bags for just one weekend, this bag will do the trick! Jon Hart: Burly Bag $264.00//Burleson Bag $317.00
Winter Jacket: to all my northern (northern as in ‘anywhere above Texas that has actual seasons’) gals. I got this jacket this previous winter, and let me tell you- I love it. This thing will keep you warm. Wear your pullover underneath and you are golden. I wore this jacket everywhere- from running quick errands, to class, scraping the snow off my car, to skiing in Colorado. I highly recommend this jacket- water resistant, and super easy to clean. Columbia: Women's evaPOURation Jacket $99.99
Burberry Quilted Jacket: need I say more? I made the mistake of wearing my quilted jacket to Mardi Gras during my freshmen year of college. Unless you are planning to layer up, do not rely on this jacket to keep you warm from subfreezing weather. However, this jacket is perfect when you need something that says ‘how to look great without making an effort’. Burberry Diamond Quilted Jacket $595.00
Easy to carry tote: I got this tote two years ago, and it has gone everywhere with me. I used it as a book-bag my freshmen year and now I just use it whenever and wherever. This tote is super durable and holds A LOT- I can throw in my laptop, a textbook, a few binders; or even clothes, my makeup bag, and shoes. The tote is patent leather, so it is super easy to clean. Put this tote alongside the large travel bag, and I am set for a weekend road-trip or a quick flight. I highly recommend this tote. I got mine in a red patent leather, sadly- that style is retired. But there are still plenty of colors and different styles! Kate Spade: Cedar Street Lewis $298.00

This week, I will be featuring two sisters' (@rissamadsen & @hayjanedein) who started a clothing line that I am head over heels about. Cissie, is the perfect combination of conservative, bohemian, and meet-the-parents appropriate. One of my favorite things about Cissie is the simplicity with only a few tasteful selections; you do not feel overwhelm when trying to shop. With new weekly shipments, a flat shipping rate of only $7, and the affordable prices- Cissie is bound to be the next big thing. You can check out Cissie at www.shopcissie.com or follow them on Instagram @shopcissie. Here are my two favorite pieces, happy shopping!
